Site cleanup and update

Ok. I just updated to WP 2.6.x,  removed all traces of those pesky twitter updates and added a Jaiku widget. All in all, just did some janitorial work on the site so that I can begin anew.

Btw. Jaiku is like Twitter on Viagra. Gonna be using that from now on. Jaiku nowadays also has unlimited invites so if someone is craving for an account drop me a line in the comment section and I’ll invite you.

Cheerio!

Got(h) bunnies?

Apparently the goth disease is now spreading to animals as well. Or else this bunny just really likes Kiss. (found this from digg.com)

Quantum Superposition in Video Games

This one is kind hard to explain, so let me quote the original poster over at realityofnature.com

“Here are a couple of great videos that attempt to illustrate the potential Many-Worlds Interpretation of quantum superposition through recorded video games.”

Ok? So what the hell is this “quantum superposition”? Let’s hear it from Wikipedia:

“The principle of superposition states that if the world can be in any configuration, any possible arrangement of particles or fields, and if the world could also be in another configuration, then the world can also be in a state which is a mixture of the two, where the amount of each configuration that is in the mixture is specified by a complex number.”

Uh. Didn’t really understand, but what the hell. Just watch these videos and you’ll get it. Or at least have a bit of fun.

Alternative Greeting Cards from Helsinki

Ah. Helsinki. That glimmering jewel of the Baltic Sea. The capital of Finland, my country. Let us see you in all of your shining glory.

Oh… my.

These greeting cards may not be the ones you wish to send your relatives after a nice vocation in Helsinki, but at least they are honest.

Seven more alternative endings to movies

What secrets is this room hiding?A while ago I told you kids about the fabulous alternative ending to Will Smith’s blockbuster “I Am Legend”. Well good news! I have seven more alternative endings to seven more movies. While the article is titled “7 Alternate Endings that Completely Flipped (off) the Script” I actually think that some (like the IAL ending) are even better than the endings we get to see at the movies.

But judge for yourself. I quite liked the alt-ending to “1408” even if it was nothing like the short story. Actually (like usual) the whole movie was nothing like the short story, but that’s usually the case when someone adapts Stephen King to the big screen.

Removing yourself from Facebook is *almost* impossible

Decided finally to quit facebook. I haven’t been using it actively for some time now and the thought of my future employer looking at my drunken adventures wasn’t a pleasant one. So I embarked on a epic mission to permanently remove my account from facebook. As you probably know, it’s easier said than done. By default Faceboom refuses to remove your accout but will only disable it so you can keep returning to their “service”. So, after a long and admittedly a little bit painful process I now have “no friends” :-S or so Facebook tells me.

I removed manually every message, every wall post, every application and most importantly every picture and friend on my profile. Then I eventually found a way (it’s #3) to delete my profile. Or at least leave an automated message to the customer service department of Facebook so that they will (or should) delete my account.

But fuck if it isn’t made damn near impossible to delete the horrible thing. All of those” leave this group”, “remove this post/picture/application” links are very cleverly hidden from the user. Even the deletion thing is hidden very deep into their site (took like 3-4 sub-pages) and you have to know how to get at it to find it. But I finally made it and am now free again. :)

BTW: I can still be found in Twitter. I encourage you to join up too. It’s a small and user friendly service to keep people informed of your comings and goings.

Testing my mailblogging skillz

So, I got my fast 3G mobile broadband today and now I can blog with
that too.

Pretty sweet if I just can make everything work in unison (by
everything I mean my Nokia phone + my ISP + wordpress + my mail
server). So bear with me while the blog temporarily fills up with
different testing posts. This shouldn’t take long but with technology
you never know for sure. :-S

Also: Got my hands finally on some literature for my seminar thesis.
May the FSM bless Rebecca Blood.
